Training is on a month to month basis. There are no long term contracts.
Personal training/trainer
The sessions are 30 to 45 minutes with the trainer and then at least 30 minutes of cardio that is set up and monitored by the trainer. Nutrition education sessions are set up for separate times so they does not interfere with training and cardio. The individual is trained and followed by their own individual trainer. Group training
We have added another service to our facility and for lack of a better word, are calling it group training. What this means is that a workout is set up daily for the general goal of muscle gain and weight loss. The biggest difference between this and personal training is that you would be spotted and helped by all the trainers instead of one to one with a trainer. The workout is still 4 days per week, approximately 45 minutes per session, and the cardio/nutrition piece is still available. We have found this to be effective and efficient for everyone. Harris Training Systems is a training program that is set up for each individual based on their own health, nutrition and training needs.
Our philosophy is threefold. We combine cardiovascular exercise, weight training, and proper nutrition to help you develop a healthier lifestyle.
HTS is unique because we base your training on your individual needs.
We monitor and guide your progress, one on one, each and every session.
Your trainer remains the same throughout the program so that your specific needs, injuries, strengths and weaknesses can be learned by your trainer.
This continuity is unique to our philosophy.
Each session is documented by your trainer to allow you to see how you are progressing towards your goals.
HTS is also about instruction and education.
Success often comes from education and understanding. The goal of training is to give you the correct form, posture, and techniques for training as well as proper nutrition and eating habits. These tools will help you on the road to your fitness goals.
We offer these tools in a family-oriented environment that works with your busy lifestyle.
How much does it cost?
We recommend that you price our services and see how competitively priced we truly are.
How long will it take for me to reach my goal?
We recommend 3 months because it usually takes that long to get all three aspects of training working together. The eating changes that are required are the last thing to come in line and then people really start to see big changes. However, a person will see small changes all along the way like increased energy and a stronger sense of well being.
What do I wear?
We suggest loose comfortable clothing and layers so you can cool off as you get sweaty. This is not a club that makes you feel like you have to have matching outfits or special clothes. Comfortable and homey is the environment we promote.
Who will be my trainer?
We try to match people to the trainer that will best suit their needs, be they medical needs, sports, or a preference for male or female trainers. Unfortunately, some trainers are not available during all time slots.
How should I eat?
We set up individual times to sit down and talk about eating. We give examples and suggestions along with written material to help the clients make the best foods choices and eat more frequently throughout the day.
Are your trainers certified?
Tyrone has been certified through ACE. Lloyal and Margaret have gone through the theory aspect of certification through NETA but not taken the tests due to the cancellation of the session. The practical training was taught by Tyrone and each of us worked under him until he released us to train others on our own. The practical experience that our trainers have gained is much more valuable and extensive than what is gained by reading a text book. HTS promotes individual training sessions modified to meet each persons needs and that cannot be achieved except through experience on the floor with clients.
Tyrone Harris
Owner, trainer and developer of this facility and program. Tyrone has been a personal trainer for over thirty years and has combined his knowledge and experience gained over that time to establish this club and program. Tyrone continues to modify and change the program based on the needs of the clients. Tyrone was originally certified through A.C.E. (American College of Exercise) and has gone on to develop his own criteria for his trainers that work under him. Experience and knowledge are his biggest assets which continue to build and grow. You never stop learning.
Lloyal A Harris
Trainer and bookkeeper. Lloyal has worked at HTS since its inception in January of 1997. She is a registered nurse and brings her medical experience to the programs to help insure the safety and wellbeing of each client. Lloyal often works with those who have medical issues which have included diabetes, fibromyalgia, Parkinson's disease, high blood pressure, cardiac issues and post operative care of shoulders, knees, backs, ankles, hips, etc. Lloyal has worked under Tyrone to become a trainer and has competed in body building 6 times to give her a well rounded base of knowledge for training.
Daniel Harris
Trainer. Daniel started working with Harris Training Systems in November of 2013. He is unique to our team due to his being a single leg amputee. He has worked through significant struggles and has adopted a can do attitude which he passes on to our clients with passion and conviction. Daniel has competed as a bodybuilder prior to his amputation which gives him another sense of what it takes to succeed in the clients goals. He has been trained under Tyrone Harris for the first year that he was here and now is a competent and capable trainer in his own right. If you need a boost or a word of encouragement, Daniel is there to give it!
